Dear Clients,
Recently Prime
Clinical Systems has seen in influx of
calls in relation to new Reason Codes
that are included in the Ansi 835 (a.k.a.
ERA) files.
While your system
has been set up with Reason Codes, when
new Reason Codes are published, Prime
Clinical Systems does not
update the Reason Codes for each system.
When using Intellects
AutoPayment feature, and in the 835/ERA,
there is a new Reason Code which does
not already exist, the Error report (generated
whether or not the user posts or prints
the report) will include a comment in
the <Check/CCN> field 'Unknown reason'.
The 'new' Reason
Code (example: CO257) will print at the
bottom of the Error report as 'reason
code does not exists in the system'.
To add the Reason
Code, you must first identify what the
Reason Code description is related to.
Your
office may access the Washington Publishing
Company website for a list of claim adjustment
reason codes via http://bit.ly/ZYvp9F,
or contact your MAC payer for further
information.
Once you have identified
the new Reason Code completely, go to
Intellect, Utility
--►Message --►Reason Code
and add the new code. Please click here
for complete instructions from our online
documentation.
Once the Reason
Code has been added, your office may proceed
with posting/processing the 835/ERA file.
