Data

Is Your Data Safe?

Does Your Office Keep Track of the
Employee Contacts for Your Software?

Many times we receive calls and emails requesting information regarding your organization from persons that are not authorized. Without a current contact list, no assistance can be provided so there will be a delay in solving your problem.

Prime Clinical Systems' policy is to protect your information. In order to maintain the safety of your data/information, you must always have a current contact list of users authorized to contact Prime Clinical on your organizations behalf. As your contacts change, please be sure to notify PCS Administration Department by submitting a letter, on your letterhead, signed by the 'owner', with the persons in your office that are authorized to contact PCS on your behalf.

All contact lists should either be emailed administration@primeclinical.com or faxed 626-449-5615. Include your Client Id, and the Subject Contact List.

Emdeon

As of June 23, 2014, Emdeon Inc., announced it had "entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Capario."

How does this affect you? At this time, per Capario, there are no changes to the way clients send and receive data. Emdeon/Capario will be making additional announcements at a later time.

Read the Press Release.

CAIR

CAIR Immunization Registry

If you will be reporting CAIR Immunization Registry for Meaningful Use, you will need to do the following.  Please click here to see if your county is accepting California Public Health Meaningful Use Capability. If your county is, please register with CAIR at http://cairweb.org/. Please select "Site will submit data via a distinct Sending Facility" when registering.

Once your registration is complete, please email your CAIR practice ID to Train@primeclinical.com and include your client ID, contact name, and contact phone number.  Prime Clinical will need this information to store in your clinic setup screen in order to send your information to CAIR. Without this information, you will not be able to send any information to CAIR for your Immunization Registry reporting.

ICD-10 Documentation and Coding Concepts Webcasts

CMS invites you to view newly released webcasts on ICD-10 documentation and coding concepts for various specialties.

To view the webcasts, please visit CMS' www.roadto10.org website, click on the "Webcasts" tab located in the left-hand navigation bar, click "Specialty Documentation Webcasts", and then scroll to the specialty of your choice.

An AHIMA-certified coder presents on the webcast, which focuses on unique ICD-10 clinical documentation needs and hot topics for each specialty:

  • Physician perspective/clinical impact of ICD-10

  • Documentation requirements for certain conditions

  • Documentation changes and new concepts

  • Use of "unspecified" codes in ICD-10

Currently, CMS has recorded webinars available for orthopedics, cardiology, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, and family practice and internal medicine.

Lies

3 ICD-10 Delay Lies You Can't Let Yourself Believe

1. "Now that it's delayed, we have plenty of time."
2. "The transition won't be that hard."
3. "Nobody even uses it yet/knows it yet."

Find out the truth here.

Tasks

5 ICD-10 Tasks to Keep Working On

Wolters Kluwer Health came up with five focus areas of ICD-10 mitigation that should not be delayed, just because the compliance date has been delayed. These areas, it says, will refine ICD-10 plans to minimize impacts on productivity and reimbursement.

Email

Most U.S. Residents Prefer Doctors Who Email With Their Patients

According to a survey by Catalyst Healthcare Research, 93% of respondents said they prefer to see a physician who offers email communication with his or her patients. Of those respondents, one-quarter said they still would choose a doctor who offers email consultations, even if there is a $25 charge for such communication.

6 Strategies for Reducing Information Overload at Your Medical Practice

Feeling frazzled and overwhelmed with the amount of material coming across your desk each day? Having difficulty keeping up with journals, transmittals, e-newsletters, reports, documents, podcasts, Tweets, pins, and business-management bestsellers?

If so, you may be suffering from "information overload," a growing problem that impacts productivity and performance at work. Use these six strategies to create a healthier and more productive work environment:

1. Reduce the flow.

2. Ignore anything that isn't immediately useful.

3. Get a grip on e-mail.

4. Clean the clutter.

5. Release the relentless "to-do list" from your head.

6. Let it sit.
