ICD-10 Delay Approved! The department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has issued a final rule that postpones the ICD-10 compliance deadline from October 1, 2013, to October 1, 2014. The one-year delay, orignally proposed in April, allows covered entities more time to transition systems and processes to updated medical data code sets. lefts for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and coding organizations, such as AAPC, have resources to help providers prepare for a smooth transition to ICD-10.
