Subject: 1stVoice -- update on Dragon, Windows 10 and more
Greetings;
It's been a while since our last email to our customers and contacts, and
we wanted to bring you up-to-date on a couple of developments.
For Dragon Medical users:
The current shipping version is Dragon Medical Practice Edition 2 (DMPE2, commonly called v12). If you have the original Dragon Medical Practice Edition (v11), or Dragon Medical 10, upgrade is available and recommended. DMPE2 has notably increased accuracy and speed, as well as staying up-to-date with Microsoft Office and Windows 7 and Windows 8 operating systems.
Dragon Medical and Windows 10:
Nuance has released a DMPE 2.3 patch (no charge), just last week, to
address compatibility issues with Windows 10. Note, we have not yet tested
this, but reports back from Nuance internal technical support are positive,
with DMPE 2.3 running successfully on Windows 10.
This 2.3 release also addresses dropped words and characters when dictating
directly into Citrix Receiver-published applications, such as the Epic
EMR. Although this release will not provide full "select and say"
capability, it is reported that the dropped character and word issue is
improved, restoring the level of functionality previously seen with Citrix
Plug-in 12.3. We have not yet had the opportunity to test this new release
in Citrix/Epic, so cannot verify this claim at this time.
The 2.3 patch will install only over DMPE 2.2 installations, with a build
number of 12.52.350.048. The .048 build was the most up-to-date
DMPE 2.2 version. To check which build of DMPE you have, go to the
Dragon Toolbar, Help, About Dragon. If you have any other build of DMPE2,
you will need to first update to the 2.2 level, which should be available
from the Dragon Toolbar, Help, Check for Updates.
When doing any of the updates from Nuance, we strongly recommend that you
select the option Download Only as an initial step, and then do the update
installation as a separate step. Make sure that your Dragon program is
closed when you do any updates.
If you prefer to have us send you links to download the 2.2 and/or 2.3
patches, please get in touch. If you need technical assistance with the
updates, please contact us to set up a support session.
The 2.3 patch, which confers Windows 10 compatibility, and improved performance
with Citrix, is available only for DMPE 2 installations. If you have the
initial release of Dragon Medical Practice Edition (commonly known as
version 11) from about four years ago, please contact us to upgrade to
DMPE 2 and the most recent 2.3 patch. The original DMPE (v11) will not
run on Windows 10, and is not eligible by itself for the 2.3 patch.
Additional note: Even if you don't need Windows 10 compatibility, bringing
your DMPE installation up to version 2.2 (.048 build) is strongly recommended
– even compared with the initial release of DMPE2, the 2.2 build has noticeably
improved recognition accuracy and speed, especially for accented speech.
For Dragon Premium, Professional, and Legal users: Current shipping
version is 14. New product names are Dragon Professional Individual and
Dragon Legal Individual. Along with release of the new version, have come
favorable price changes.
Dragon Professional Individual is $300, compared with $600 for previous
editions of Professional. This includes the macro scripting capability,
so there is no longer much reason to consider Premium, still available
at version 13 levels for $200. New purchase of Dragon Professional Individual
and upgrade paths from previous versions are available.
Dragon Legal Individual is $500, compared with previous Legal offerings
at $900. Upgrade path from previous versions are available.
Enterprise deployment/volume licensing for Professional and Legal is available.
Please contact us for details if you are looking to bring more than 10
users on board.
Dragon Professional Individual and Dragon Legal Individual are compatible
with Windows 7, 8 and 10.
