PCM Version 5.5.900 is soon to be released! Updates have been made in Preventative Services, Patient Reminders and Treatment Plans, Filing, Patient Data Tables, User Privileges, and Miscellaneous Changes. Click here for a list of new features that will be included.

Health Care Provider
Taxonomy Codes (HPTC) Update
 

 

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has released the summary of changes reflected in the Health Care Provider Taxonomy Code (HPTC) list. Medicare contractors will update their HPTC tables with this new version effective on January 1, 2012.

 

 The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requires that submitted data, which is part of a named code set, must be valid data from that code set

 Claims accepted with invalid data are non-compliant

 Stay current on all HIPAA requirements to insure timely processing of your claims

 

The HPTCs are updated twice per year, in April and October. The summary of changes effective January 1, 2012 can be accessed by clicking here.

Who's New at PCS

New Employees

 

Southern California

  

Keley Johnson is a new PCM trainer and New Client Coordinator. She has been working in the Health and IT fields since 2000. She earned her CompTia A+ Certification in PC Repair in 2000 and began working in tech support at EarthLink Inc. More recently she held the position of Record Analyst at Loma Linda University Medical Center which combined patient chart auditing, quality assurance for patient documentation, using and training of EMR's. Keley is currently in the process of completing a Health IT Workforce Training Program in Clinical/Practitioner EMR Consulting and Implementation at Santa Barbara City College and plans to get several HITPro (Health Information Technology Professional) Certifications before finishing an Associates degree in Health Information Technology and certification as a RHIT (Registered Health Information Technologist.  

 

Julia Miller is one of our new PCM Trainers. Working in the medical field since she was 18 years old, Julia graduated from nursing school with a 3.8gpa and then worked primarily in the trauma/emergency room department of local hospitals in NJ. In 2001, she moved to California where she has worked exclusively with the medical community in the capacity of administration and billing. Prior to working at PCS, Julia worked for a billing service for approximately 7 years and has several billing designations. She has also attended CERT (Community Emergency Response Training) with the LAFD and LACoFD in the event of a natural emergency here in CA.   

 

Nhan Nguyen has recently been hired to our staff as a new Hardware Technician. He has a BA degree in Liberal Arts and is currently pursuing a BS degree in Information Technology. He currently possesses several Microsoft certifications as a MCP, MCTS, MCDTC and a CompTIA Security+. Nhan has excellent skills in troubleshooting Windows Servers, VMWare, Windows 7, etc. and his previous experience in customer service will be an asset to our growing hardware department. 

 

Marina Morales is one of our New Client Coordinator working part time on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. She graduated this year from Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy and is currently attending the University of La Verne, where she is majoring in Business Administration and is part of the water polo team there. Before Prime Clinical, Marina worked for LCF Travel Agency and as a personal assistant in a photography studio and is ready to take on the challenge here at PCS. Marina can be reached at ext. 225.
