Workshop Update  

 

PCM & Intellect

Daily Training Forum

 

Prime Clinical is excited to introduce a PCM & Intellect Daily Training Forum! This daily forum is to assist you, our clients, on quick training questions in both PCM and Intellect. Clients need only to register one time and then may access the forum daily with the same access code. This is a great tool to get answers quickly and proceed with the rest of your day! To register, click here.  

To accommodate your busy schedules, the daily forum is offered as follows:

 

  • Mondays and Tuesdays 2:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.

  • Wednesdays 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

  • Thursdays 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

  • Fridays 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

 

All times are PST.

Beginning the third week of August, Prime Clinical now offers two new Intellect workshops:

Collections & Follow Up Workshop

Offered every third Tuesday, this workshop will cover the collection/follow up tools in Intellect which include the Collection Ledger, Collection Report, Create/Review Collection File, and Follow Up Letters.

Electronic Billing Reports Workshop

Offered every fourth Tuesday, this workshop will cover the reports generated when claims are submitted electronically, including the OnSTAFF Electronic Billing Report, 999 Report, 277CA (Acknowledgement) Report, and how to view the reports on-screen.

Prohibit Overbooking by
Multiple Operators   


As of version 9.12.32, a new PENDING feature prohibits multiple operators from overbooking an appointment time slot.

Bill Unpaid Co-Pays  

 

If patients have co-pays but do not pay them at the time of their appointment, as of version 9.12.32, it is  possible to include unpaid co-pays on billing statements using the new Bill Copay option on the Charges--Charge screen.

ICD-10 

 

Where Do You Start With ICD-10? 

  

We know that ICD-9 is being phased-out. We know that ICD-10 codes are several characters longer for greater specificity and to accommodate additional information. We also know that there are a number of perks for ICD-10 codes; i.e., better tracking, uses current terminology, is consistent with current medial practice, is more specific, etc. But, do you know how to start implementing ICD-10?

The Medicare and Medicaid EHR Incentive Programs will provide incentive payments to eligible professionals, eligible hospitals, and critical access hospitals (CAHs) as they adopt, implement, upgrade, or demonstrate meaningful use of certified EHR technology.

 Bill Would Extend EHR Incentive Pay
to Behavioral Care Providers

 

Health Data Management reports that House lawmakers have introduced bipartisan legislation (HB 6043) which would allow behavioral health care providers to qualify for meaningful use incentive payments.

 

Under the 2009 economic stimulus package, health care providers who demonstrate meaningful use of certified electronic health record systems can qualify for incentive payments through Medicaid and Medicare.

 Study: HIE Participation Financially Beneficial to Providers, Payers    

 

Participating in health information exchanges can have financial benefits for both payers and health care providers, according to a study published in the Journal of the American Medical Informatics Association, FierceEMR reports.

 

For the study, University of Wisconsin-Madison researchers analyzed 4,639 emergency department encounters at three large Milwaukee facilities over a one-year period to determine the benefits of patients' health data access through an HIE.

Who's Who at PCS

 

New Employees   

 

Northern California
Jenny Belkin is very excited about joining the Prime Clinical family. She has over 20 years in practice management experience and has utilized different software throughout this time. Her background will help with the transition for practices that are currently implementing EMR and she is very familiar with both Intellect and PCM. She is looking forward to her new endeavor and can't wait to get up and running.    

    

Southern California
Anne Marie Chua, our new Hardware Coordinator, has the motto, "Excellence is a way of life". Her motto resounds in her professional and personal relationships, and has fostered a rich account of experience in retail, publishing, automotive, sales, telecom and most of all, customer service. 

 

Prime Clinical also welcomes two new PCM trainers: Brandy Mason and Ivon Perez.  

Brandy Mason received her IT training from the US Air Force, where she served from 1996-2004. After that, she worked as a medical transcriptionist, and then at City of Hope as a secretary for the Cytogenetics laboratory. She is a Certified Nurse Assistant.  

  

Ivon Perez has been in the medical field since 1994. In addition to having an AS in Nursing and a BS in Health Care Administration, Ivon is also a Registered Emergency Technician P1, Certified Medical Assistant, HIPAA/OSHA Certified Administrator, is EMR & EHR Certified, is a CPR Instructor for the American Heart Association, and has obtained her teaching credentials through the NCCT.
