Support
Call Volume Decreasing
In
recent months,
our Support call
volume increased
by 80% due to
the ANSI 5010
requirements.
As your Software
Vendor, our goal
has always been
to provide our
clients with Support
that represents
knowledge, integrity,
and overall excellent
quality. During
this ANSI 5010
transition, we
faced one of the
biggest challenges
we have seen since
Y2K. Part of the
reason for this
is the industry
itself. Many entities
such as clearinghouses,
insurance payers,
and providers
in general, were
not ready for
this transition
and the 'added'
CMS extension
for 5010 is proof.
Our Support Team
worked tirelessly
to meet the initial
deadline and we
continue to do
the same now by
keeping informed
and up-to-date
on any new edits
and requirements.
We thank all of
our clients for
their patience
and continued
understanding
during the transition
periods. We can
now report that
80% of all our
clients have successfully
transitioned to
ANSI 5010 which,
therefore, causes
less call volume.

Meaningful
Use Stage 2: Raising
the Bar With Exchange,
Standards, Engagement
On
Feb. 23, 2012,
CMS released the
long-awaited notice
of proposed rule-making that
details Stage
2 of the Electronic
Health Record
Incentive Program,
advancing the
next set of criteria
that hospitals
and health care
providers must
meet to continue
successfully demonstrating
meaningful use
of EHR systems.
CMS
clarified that
providers will
receive two
years in each
stage, regardless
of which year
they enter the
program. CMS also
has proposed an
exception that
would allow providers
who successfully
attested to meaningful
use in 2011 to
remain in Stage
1 for a third
year, through
2013. This change
is to accommodate
the late release
of the final Stage
2 rule relative
to the initially
proposed 2013
start of the Stage
2 reporting period
for these providers.
The
federal government's Regulations.gov
website provides
a platform for
the public to
submit online
comments on the CMS
proposed rule and
the ONC proposed
rule. The 60-day
public comment
period ends on
May 7.
The
agencies expect
to publish final
rules for Stage
2 of the meaningful
use program this
summer.

ICD-10
Delay: 7 Things
You Should Do
with the Extra
Time
The
Department of
Health and Human
Services (HHS)
recently confirmed
its intent to
push back the
Oct. 1, 2013,
ICD-10 compliance
deadline for certain
healthcare entities.
However, HHS has
not specified
a new deadline
nor defined which
entities will
be covered by
the change. And
many practices
are wondering
if they should
delay their transition
or continue as
planned.
