Is
Your Data Safe?
Does
Your Office Keep
Track
of the Employee
Contacts for Your
Software?
Many
times we receive
calls and emails
requesting information
regarding your
organization from
persons that are
not authorized.
Without a current
contact list,
no assistance
can be provided
so there will
be a delay in
solving your problem.
Prime
Clinical Systems'
policy is to protect
your information.
In order to maintain
the safety of
your data/information,
you must always
have a current
contact list of
users authorized
to contact Prime
Clinical on your
organizations
behalf. As your
contacts change,
please be sure
to notify PCS
Administration
Department by
submitting a letter,
on your letterhead,
signed by the
'owner', with
the persons in
your office that
are authorized
to contact PCS
on your behalf.
All
contact lists
should be either
be emailed administration@primeclinical.com
or faxed 626-449-5615.

2014
Meaningful Use
Attestation Instructions
-
IMPORTANT REMINDERS
-
Action May
Be Required
CMS
only requires
that providers
attest for a 90-day
period in 2014.
This is to allow
EHR vendor time
to complete their
certification
process and update
clients to prepare
for their 90 days.
In order to attest
for Meaningful
Use in 2014, you
must be updated
to the 2014 Certified
version of Patient
Chart Manager
(PCM). You must
be update before
starting your
90-day period.

for information
and pointers for
attesting in 2014. |

CAIR
Immunization Registry
If
you will be reporting
CAIR Immunization
Registry for Meaningful
Use, you will
need to do the
following. Please
to see if your
county is accepting
California Public
Health Meaningful
Use Capability.
If your county
is, please register
with CAIR at http://cairweb.org/.
Please select
"Site will
submit data via
a distinct Sending
Facility"
when registering.
Once
your registration
is complete, please
email your CAIR
practice ID to
Train@primeclinical.com
and include your
client ID, contact
name, and contact
phone number. Prime
Clinical will
need this information
to store in your
clinic setup screen
in order to send
your information

this information,
you will not be
able to send any
information to
CAIR for your
Immunization Registry
reporting. |

2014
Clinical Quality
Measures
For
2014 only, all
providers regardless
of their stage
of meaningful
use, are only
required to demonstrate
meaningful use
for a three-month
EHR reporting
period. Medicare
providers can
either report
their CQMs for
the entire year
or select an optional
three-month reporting
period for CQMs
that is identical
to their three-month
reporting period
for meaningful
use. Please select
"Third Party
Transmission"
when registering.
For
Medicare providers,
this 3-month reporting
period is fixed
to the quarter
of either the
fiscal or calendar
(for EPs) year
in order to align
with existing
CMS quality measurement
programs, such
as the Physician
Quality Reporting
System (PQRS).
CMS is permitting
this one-time
three-month reporting
period in 2014
only so that all
providers who
must upgrade to
2014 Certified
EHR Technology
will have adequate
time to implement
their new Certified
EHR systems.

in 2014.

Continue
Preparing for
ICD-10
Even though the
ICD-10 compliance
deadline has been
moved to October
2015 (see following
article for details),
Prime Clinical
is continuing
to complete IDC-10
testing and we
urge you, our
clients, to keep
preparing for
the ICD-10 change.
|

ICD-10
Compliance Date
On April 1, 2014,
the Protecting
Access to Medicare
Act of 2014 (PAMA)
(Pub. L. No. 113-93)
was enacted, which
said that the
Secretary may
not adopt ICD-10
prior to October
1, 2015. Accordingly,
the U.S. Department
of Health and
Human Services
expects to release
an interim final
rule in the near
future that will
include a new
compliance date
that would require
the use of ICD-10
beginning October
1, 2015. The rule
will also require
HIPAA covered
entities to continue
to use ICD-9-CM
through September
30, 2015.

July
ICD-10 End-to-End
Testing Canceled:
Additional Testing
Planned
for
2015
CMS planned to
conduct ICD-10
testing during
the week of July
21 through 25,
2014, to give
a sample group
of providers the
opportunity to
participate in
end-to-end testing
with Medicare
Administrative
Contractors (MACs)
and the Common
Electronic Data
Interchange (CEDI)
contractor. The
July testing has
been canceled
due to the ICD-10
implementation
delay. Additional
opportunities
for end-to-end
testing will be
available in 2015.

5
Ways EHR Implementation
Benefits Healthcare
Providers
If
an organization
can get their
EHR adoption right,
they can expect
a number of positive
outcomes. Some
carry clear, measurable
implications for
revenue and productivity.
Others are less
quantifiable,
but not necessarily
any less important
to running a successful
practice.
