  User  thank you

Thanks to all of you who helped make our 5th Annual User Meeting a SUCCESS!!!

We had the best attendance to date and welcomed the chance to meet some of the people we talk to on a normal basis. We had a great response to the meeting and received some good suggestions for next year.

In addition to our Prime Clinical Team, we were joined by a representative from CMS and also some of our vendor partners. Clients in attendance received some great information and had a chance to win various raffle prizes as well.

New this year, Prime Clinical was pleased to add a PCM Provider training and happy to have 25 of our providers join us over the two-day period. In the coming months we will be hosting PROVIDER TRAINING in our corporate location in Pasadena, CA and also our new satellite office location in Dublin, CA. Please keep an eye on the upcoming newsletters for dates, times and registration info.

For your review, or if you missed them, the Power Point presentations shown at our User Meeting may be accessed here.

Superbill

Superbill Form Change Information

To help you meet the October 1, 2015 deadline of having superbills in your office updated, PCS has a blank Superbill Template, in Microsoft Word format, which can be copied. Your office may need an additional page for the diagnosis codes. Note: Please review our email of May 14, 2015 for superbill guidelines and restrictions.

Lookup
Prime Clinical ICD-10 Look-up Screen

Prime Clinical has a stand-alone program in beta testing which allows users to enter their PCS clinic number and either an ICD-9 code or partial description to query the corresponding ICD10 codes and descriptions. This program, which will be for Intellect users who do not have PCM, may be run independently outside of Intellect. For additional product information and status updates on our daily improvements to this option, please contact PCS Support.

ICD-10 Clearinghouse Testing

If you are using a clearinghouse that is

not partnered with Prime Clinical, you will have to do your own testing. Partnered clearinghouses include Trizetto, Optum, and Zirmed. Ability has already been tested via Medicare.

Prime Clinical's ICD-10 Checklist:

checklistIn your ICD-10 preparation, PCS suggests these check points:

  • Update Your Superbill: On October 1, 2015, ICD-10 goes into effect. Any superbills your office is currently using that include diagnosis codes will need to be updated to reference the new ICD-10 codes. See deadlines and procedures.

  • Add Specific ICD-10 Codes: As your software vendor, Prime Clinical has included ALL the ICD-10 codes and a crosswalk in your software. Any codes that are not included in your system will need to be added to your system by you and your staff. Please be advised, the ICD-10 codes were pulled from the CMS website and are not a product of PCS.

  • Review Training Videos/Information: Prime Clinical constantly updates our websites with current ICD-10 information for our clients. After logging-in simply click on the blue ICD-10 box on the right. Information includes  links to ICD-10 Medicare video tutorials such as:

    • Are you ready to transition?

    • A Roadmap for Small Clinical Practice

    • Small Practice Guide to a Smooth Transition

    • A Guide for Small and Medium Practices

    • Clinical Documentation

    • The Provider Perspective

To access the links after logging-in, click on OnStaff/Intellect, then ICD10, and then ICD-10 Video Tutorials. Note: All CMS videos require a Medscape login.

Facts
ICD-10 Coding Concerns Dispelled
with 10 CMS Facts

The lefts for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) spoke with providers throughout the country and identified certain myths about the ICD-10 transition that many are worried about. Below are ten facts that should dispel these myths and allay ICD-10 coding concerns:

1.    The ICD-10 transition date is October 1, 2015

2.    You don't have to use all 68,000 codes

3.    You will use a similar process to look up ICD-10 codes that you use with ICD-9

4.    Outpatient and office procedure codes are staying the same

5.    All Medicare fee-for-service providers have the opportunity to conduct testing with CMS before the ICD-10 transition

6.    If you cannot submit ICD-10 claims electronically, Medicare offers several options

7.    Practices that do not prepare for ICD-10 will not be able to submit claims for services performed on or after October 1, 2015

8.    Reimbursement for outpatient and physician office procedures will not be determined by ICD-10 codes

9.    Costs could be substantially lower than projected earlier

10.  It's time to transition to ICD-10

Dual
Dual Coding ICD-10 and ICD-9: When and How

ICD-10After October 1, 2015, there will be a period of time when you may have to use both coding systems. If you take the right approach, however, you can keep that overlap period brief.

Which code set you use will depend on the date of service. Claims with a date of service before October 1 will need to be coded in the ICD-9 system - even if those claims are not submitted until after October 1. Claims with a date of service of October 1 or later must use the ICD-10 system. CMS will not accept a claim with more than one code set. You must use either all ICD-9 or all ICD-10, so in some cases, you may have to split a claim.
