UTILITY/
DIAGNOSIS MENU
This option is used in adding to and maintaining diagnosis codes for billing purposes. Diagnoses are provided by On-Staff. This file allows classification of diagnosis by gender and age of the patient, thus reducing posting errors based on the sex and/or age of the patient (a male patient who is pregnant for example).

ADD NEW DIAGNOSIS
To add a diagnosis code, select the Add option, On-Staff will display the following fields:
Diagnosis Code: Enter the user defined code that you will assign to each diagnosis using up to 6 alphabetic and/or numeric characters. We recommend that you develop speed codes for those diagnoses that appear on your SuperBill while using the actual ICD9 Codes as your internal code for all others. Your trainer covered this with you during Session I.
NOTE: Be kind to your data entry staff and use numeric speed codes!
ICD9 Code: Enter the ICD9 code for the diagnosis.
Description: Enter the ICD9 Code Book description (or abbreviation) of the diagnosis.
Sex(M/F/X/R): This field allows set up of sex limitation and the flagging of a retired or obsolete diagnosis. Press the [F2] search key to display the following valid choices:
M Male related diagnosis only.
F Female related diagnosis only.
X Diagnosis not related to patient's sex.
R Retired/Obsolete Diagnosis.
When posting a retired/obsolete diagnosis, the following warning will appear:
WARNING
This Diagnosis Code Has Been Flagged:
* * * NOT TO BE USED * * * *
Press Any Key To Continue.
Age From: If the diagnosis is limited to a specific age range, enter the youngest age, in whole numbers, that a patient could have this condition. For example, from birth to one year, Age From would be 0 (zero), Age To would be 1 (one).
Age To: If the diagnosis is limited to a specific age range, enter the oldest age, in whole numbers, that a patient could have this condition.
NOTE: Age limitations must be entered in whole numbers, i.e. never .5, .25 etc.
After pressing [Enter] in the last field, the cursor will return to the ICD9 field, allowing review of the entry for accuracy. If the data entered is accurate, press [“] to return to the Diagnosis Code field. At this point, you may either add an additional diagnosis code or press [“] to return to the Diagnosis Menu.
