System Improves Workflow, Patient Care at
White Memorial OB-GYN Practice and Residency Program

Patient Chart Manager, an innovative electronic medical records system,
is streamlining work processes, improving patient care – and making life
much easier for attending physicians and residents at White Memorial Medical
Center OB-GYN Practice and Residency Program.
The Los Angeles, CA-based medical group, with 7 physicians and 20 residents,
has been using the EMR since 2001. The system enables users to electronically
access patient information, document patient encounters and pass data to
other information systems.
Since implementing Patient Chart Manager, White Memorial OB/GYN has improved
its clinical workflow considerably. Residents now complete patient visits
in an average of 20 minutes, whereas the residents spent about 40 minutes
with each patient when using paper charts.

physicians to access and sign off on the same medical charts, eliminating
the all too common residency program paper chase. Plus, physicians can
access the system remotely via any Web browser.

the charts sitting in front of our computers, with our kids on our laps, at home,” Johnson

to access the same charts, the EMR offers easy to use screens, making it possible
for users to add new patients, view schedules, search by last name or social
security number and locate and open patient charts with just a single click.
Clinicians also can access the information that they need to provide quality
care to patients. Through Patient Chart Manager, physicians can tap into a complete
database that includes patient demographics, patient appointment history, patient
lab data, patient charts, medication lists, allergies and warnings as well as
active and resolved problem lists.
Integrating the EMR system with the practice’s administrative system results
in even more efficiencies. Patient Chart Manager connects seamlessly with OnSTAFF,
Prime’s practice management system, a product that automates many administrative
functions such as billing, accounts receivable, aging of accounts and insurance
