Add/Update Procedure and Diagnosis Codes

 

Are your billing codes up-to-date for new or expanded services your practice began providing during the COVID19 pandemic?

 

PROCEDURE CODES: Did you recently begin (or plan to start) administering COVID vaccines? Were new CPT codes recently added for any of your services? New procedure codes must be added before posting charges.

 

1. Go to Utility --► Procedure --► Procedure --► Add.

2. <Panel Code>: Enter CPT code, HCPCS code, or speed code used for charge entry.

3. When default settings populate the screen, verify the following fields are accurate and complete:

a. <Panel Description>

b. <Code R>, <Code C>, <Code E>, <Code 0>: Enter the appropriate CPT or HCPCS code to print on CMS1500 Box 24D or submit electronic equivalent based on Utility --► Insurance --► Insurance <Code R/C/E/U>.

c. <Charge Global>: Enter the fee to print on CMS1500 Box 24F or submit electronic equivalent.

d. <Days/Units>: Enter the days/units to print on CMS1500 Box 24G or submit electronic equivalent.

e. <Category>: Press [F2] key to view choices for internal reporting.

f.  NOTE: Based on your default settings and billing requirements, additional fields may need to be entered or updated.

4. After populating all required fields, press [Add] to save the new code.

DIAGNOSIS CODES: Intellect version 21.10.04 released in October contains the new 2022 ICD10 codes. The update does NOT include changes to or removal of existing records. PLEASE NOTE: If any new codes are added prior to the release of the 2023 ICD10 codes AND required for submitting your claims, you must manually add the new codes in Intellect.

 

1. Go to Utility --► Diagnosis --► Diagnosis, then:

a. Select Add to enter a new ICD10 code.

b. Select Modify to update existing codes.

2. Complete the REQUIRED fields at minimum:

a. <Diagnosis Code>: Enter the ICD10 code without a period.

b. <ICD10 Code>: Enter the ICD10 code.

c. <ICD9/ICD10>: Select 'ICD10.'

d. <Description>: Enter a brief description.

e. <Retire Code>: Select 'N' for active codes OR 'R' for retired codes.

f. <Billable>: Select 'Yes' if the code is to the highest level of specificity.

3. Click the [Add] button on the Add DIAGNOSIS screen OR the [Modify] button on the Modify DIAGNOSIS screen to save.
