Mobile Scheduling and Billing System Debuts at American College of Surgeons Meeting

(October 19, 2003-Pasadena, Calif.) — Prime Clinical Systems, Inc., a California-based developer of administrative and clinical software solutions for physician practices, will unveil PocketSTAFF™, a mobile medical billing and scheduling solution, at the American College of Surgeons 89th Annual Clinical Congress, Oct. 19 to 23, in Chicago.

With PocketSTAFF, physicians can utilize any Microsoft® Windows-Mobile™ device to access their schedules on the fly and input visit and procedure codes (ICD-9 and CPT) at the point of care. All information including diagnoses, procedures, schedule changes and new patient entries is transferred via either a wireless connection or a cradle-synchronization to and from Prime Clinical System’s OnStaff practice management system—eliminating the need for time-consuming double entry.

“I’m pleased to have had the opportunity to work closely with Prime Clinical Systems and to have helped design this solution. Our physicians are always on the go, and the practice of carrying around three-by-five index cards and scratch notes to track encounters for 25 surgeons is an expensive risk we’re no longer willing to accept,” says Michael Seeley, COO of Northern California-based Women’s Cancer Care.

“We needed a system that would help us do our job anytime, anywhere. PocketSTAFF gives us that freedom. Everything we need is at our fingertips, so there is no need to constantly try to reconnect with the practice management system to stay on top of our schedule or to enter data that we know we’ll forget later in the day.” He added, “PocketSTAFF has already saved our practice considerable revenues in captured services that otherwise may have been lost.”

PocketSTAFF connects seamlessly with OnStaff, Prime Clinical Systems’ practice management system, a product that automates many administrative functions such as billing, accounts receivable, aging of accounts and insurance follow-up. OnStaff is one of the first systems approved by Medicare for ANSI 4010A1 compliance and is also primed to help practices comply with HIPAA regulations. For the clinical side of the practice, the integration flows through to Prime Clinical System’s electronic medical record, Patient Chart Manager.

“ We’ve created a feature rich mobile solution that will make physicians’ lives easier,” says Barry Ardelan, president of Prime Clinical Systems. “PocketSTAFF is especially valuable because it is an innovative, new product that allows users to access all of the proven functions and features associated with OnStaff, our well established practice management system, which is proven to significantly reduce the time spent on administrative functions such as billing and accounts receivable. So, there are no worries. Physicians get the mobility they so sorely need and the reliability associated with our long-standing practice management system.”
